A Sweet That Matches the Mystery

The best part about these blondies? They’re as versatile as the twists and turns in your favorite whodunit! Whether you’re hosting a 1920s speakeasy crime caper, a haunted mansion investigation, or a neon-lit cyberpunk thriller, you can swirl the cheesecake filling with any color to set the mood.

Hosting a gothic murder mystery? Go for deep red swirls to hint at a bloody crime scene. Planning a glamorous Hollywood whodunit? Try a shimmering gold or silver swirl. No matter your theme, these customizable blondies bring an extra layer of intrigue to your party spread.

How to Bake Your Mystery Marble Blondies

Ingredients

For the cheesecake filling:

  • 1 oz softened cream cheese

  • 1 tbsp. sugar

  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

  • 1-6 drops food coloring of choice

For the blondies:

  • 1/4 cup melted butter

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1 tbsp. milk

  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup + 3 tbsp. flour

  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease an 8-inch loaf pan with cooking spray. For easy removal, line the pan with parchment paper.

  2. In a small bowl, stir together the softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and food coloring. Adjust the drops to get the perfect color for your theme. Set aside.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and sugar until smooth. Add in the egg yolk, milk, and vanilla extract and continue whisking.

  4. Mix in the flour and salt until fully combined, then pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly to the edges.

  5. Dollop the colored cheesecake mixture on top and use a toothpick to create figure-8 swirls for a marbled effect.

  6. Bake for 26-28 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.

  7. Allow the blondies to cool completely before slicing and serving.
